Schneider dies after ‘long illness’

Maria Schneider has died, following a long illness

Maria Schneider, the actress who starred in Last Tango In Paris, has died at the age of 58, the talent agency that represented her said.

A spokesperson for the Act 1 agency says the French actress died in Paris on Thursday “following a long illness.”

Schneider was 19 when she starred opposite Marlon Brando in Bernardo Bertolucci’s Last Tango In Paris, which came out in 1972.

Brando took the role of a middle-aged American businessman who takes up with a young Parisian woman, played by Schneider.

Throughout her career, Schneider appeared in more than two dozen films.
